Summary of Project

The project's aim was to provide Western Australians with additional public transport facilities by construction a dedicated  two-lane bus transitway, while integrating it with the existing Kwinana Freeway traffic network and other public transport facilities constructed as part of the Narrows Bridge Duplication Project.

The successful delivery of the Kwinana Freeway Bus Transitway Project needed to consider a number of complexities and unusual conditions including the management of freeway traffic and existing public transport facilities and the management of the sensitive Swan River and residential environment located adjacent to the project.

The successful physical completion of the bus transitway can be quantified by it meeting its identified time schedule for February 2002 and budget of $34 million. However, the success of this project goes beyond that of successfully meeting its budget and schedule, which relied on the expertise of the Project Managers and their small but specialised team.
