Media covered calls by AIPM for improved project management processes in the NSW Government ahead of the March 24 state election. The Australian Financial Review reported AIPM's President David Dombkins' challenge to both sides of politics to embrace tougher methodologies to assess the value of planned projects in an article titled 'Call to drop pork-barrelling for poll'. The release was also posted on the PMForum.org website.

In February, Computerworld (the voice of IT management) published an article, 'Defence hosts inaugural project management symposium - Acute shortage by 2020', on its online service. The report, on the first meeting of the College of Complex Project Managers, cited statements by the AIPM in relation to expected skills shortages in the profession.
Computerworld also cited the AIPM's affiliation with the CIO Executive Council in an article titled 'Demand for ICT labour at an all-time high', online and in its February 21 publication.

An article on the 'accidental' project manager penned by longtime AIPM member David Baccarini proved popular with media. The article, which incorporates research from 2006 PMAA Student Medal winner, Vanessa Darrell, is scheduled to appear both in news and opinion piece formats in PM World Today, HR Monthly, Computerworld magazine, Construction Contractor, Contractor, and Government News among others.

Also, late last year a project management special report in the Weekend Australian featured three articles and media releases generated by AIPM during the year.

The report included comments from AIPM CEO Peter Shears on skills shortages, a project case study on the Salvation Army's annual Red Shield Appeal and a profile on project manager Douglas Wood.
