Knowledge and Research Call for Participation

The first teleconference of the KRC was held on 15 May and attracted 14 participants from across various industries. The discussion was wide ranging and identified several priorities for the group, which included the formation of a PM Research body, pursuing a journal for publication of academic materials and focusing on benchmarking of project management. Working groups have been formed and will have their first meetings in the coming month. The Council is scheduled to have it's first gathering at the 2007 AIPM Conference.

Committee Chair: Dr. George Earl

Professor George Earl has had approximately ten years experience as a construction economist, specialising in construction economics value management,development feasibility studies and tax depreciation. He also has extensive experience as a property development manager and economist developing project and asset managing commercial office developments, retail centres, tourist resorts and medium to high-density housing.

Committee Members:

Dr. Vivian Tam
Dr. Vivian W. Y. Tam is currently a lecturer at Griffith School of Engineering, Griffith University, Australia. She received a PhD for her work on recycling concrete waste in the Department of Building and Construction, City University of Hong Kong in 2005. She has since been working in environmental management, sustainable development, and concrete recycling. Dr. Tam has published more than 80 papers in the last five years, which shows her leading international positions in these fields.

Dr. Steve Milner
Dr. Steve Milner has over 25 years experience in managing research and development projects in the agricultural and biopharmaceutical industries and is a co-founder and Director of Biologystics Pty Ltd, a specialist project management company providing services to the therapeutic drug and nutraceuticals sectors.

Dr. Kaye Remington
Dr. Kaye Remington was Course Director of the post-graduate Project Management program at the University of Technology, Sydney until recently. This was combined with a consultant role to the University gave her accountability for development and delivery of a program of 54 cross-organisational change projects. Now as the first Erasmus Mundus Scholar in her field she will be working with universities in Sweden in late 2007 and Scotland in early 2008.

    AIPM Survey participation

    AIPM is currently running it's 2007 Membership Survey. Members will have received an invitation email in the last two weeks. We've currently received nearly 1000 responses, meaning the data gathered will be a very significant depiction of the state of Australian Project Management.

    McNair Ingenuity have been managing the data collection, and will be producing the primary analysis. All participants will receive a PDF of the resulting analysis of the gathered Salary Survey data. We will also be producing a report on the state of training and qualification aspirations of Australian Project Managers.
