News

In addition to the items below, it is appropriate to acknowledge the significant level of change that has occured within the AIPM over the past few months. The Institute's National President Dr. Bill Young will soon be communicating to you a further message on the changes and direction of the Institute. While appearing quiet there has been significant level of work inside the organisation focusing on pursuing the commitments made in the most recent election and ensuring the future stability of the organisation.

As the end of the financial year approaches many of you will have received your renewal notices. Your attention to these prior to the end of the financial year will of course have taxation benefits. These notices also include the first membership price rise in 7 years, with an approximate increase of between 9-12% on your previous rate. As the Institute grows to 8500 members we have significant increases in the cost of administering our membership and service programs. Your consideration and support in the development of the profession and the Institute is appreciated.

As part of the development of the Institute, our chapter councils have had several recent changes to our office bearers. We have several new Chapter Presidents; please welcome Dr. Steve Milner in South Australia; Paul Campbell in New South Wales, Trevor Alex in Victoria, David Hudson in Queensland and Peter Dechaineux in the ACT. As a member driven organisation, plese contact your chapter representatives to welcome them and let them know where you think the Institute should be heading. If you get a chance, please contact Skye Bayne in SA to let her know what a great contribution she's made to the Institute and that she'll be missed on her departure to Scotland. Thanks Skye!

Notable items on the AIPM calendar include our annual Conference in Canberra. We have received over 120 submissions for the technical program, have 8 keynotes booked include Reverend Tim Costello, CEO of World Vision Australia and Dr. Miriam Baltuck, Director of the Canberra Deep Space Communications Complex. This will be an excellent event, with a significant practitioner and provider presence. Please examine www.aipm2008.com.au for more information.

Also of significance is the formation of the AIPM Council of Fellows. Chaired by Brian Kooyman, this group is currently examining the operation of AIPM's dormant Fellow program and in open communication with AIPM's National President. Brian is joined by Peter Dechaineux, Dr. Neveen Moussa, David Farwell, Phil Harlow, Chivonne Watt, Ted Tooher and Heinz Haselroither. The Institute is pleased to be supported by such a depth of experience. And in knowing this, please find below some details from our website
