My name is Rebecca Yang. I am a PhD Research Student at the Department of Building and Real Estate of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and now doing my work at the School of Property Construction and Project Management of RMIT University as an exchange student.

I am undertaking my PhD on “Managing multiple stakeholders in construction projects”. A detailed understanding of the process and approaches of stakeholder management in practice contributes the core subject of this research. It would be extremely useful for me to learn about your expert experience and knowledge of managing stakeholders.

In order to investigate actual practice of stakeholder management process and methods for stakeholder management in the industry, I would be very grateful if you spend an hour to allow me to conduct a face-to-face interview. The time and date will depend on your agenda, and the interview will basically cover the following questions:

  7. Would you please describe the duties and work processes for stakeholder management?
  8. How effective is the current project management process being employed in the organization?
  9. How did you identify project stakeholders, and which is the most efficient method to find the stakeholders?
  10. Which kind of information do you usually gather about project stakeholders to indicate stakeholders’ behaviour, and how did you get this information?
  11. How do you classify stakeholders’ behaviour?
  12. How do you analyse the interrelationships (Conflicts/Coalitions) among project stakeholders?
  13. How do you prioritize stakeholders when there are conflicts among them?In other words, how do you identify which stakeholders are more important than others?
  14. What are the important factors for your decision making when there are conflicts among stakeholders, and how do you evaluate them?
  15. Which kind of strategies in practice do you use in dealing with project stakeholders?
  16. How do you analyze the change of stakeholders’ influence and relationships?
  17. What methods do you use to engage project stakeholders?
  18. What factors do you think contribute to the success of stakeholder management?
  19. What are the constraints that might be hindering the effectiveness of stakeholder management?
  20. In your opinion, how useful was it for the project to manage stakeholders?
  21. Is there any other information that you see as relevant for our study?

You can be assured that any information provided by you in the interview will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for academic purposes. Your participation will significantly contribute to the success of this research and your help would be highly appreciated.
