ICT Professionals and Project Managers to Collaborate
Recognising the importance of professional project management in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
Under the new agreement, the two industry associations will take a collaborative approach in a range of areas including professional development, event and membership services, media and industry activities, and government relations.
“There are strong common interests held by members of ACS and AIPM,” said Sam Burrell, CEO, ACS.“Both typically conduct time and cost sensitive projects and both recognise that a professional approach can help mitigate against risk.”
With both industries facing parallel issues, this MOU provides a great opportunity for members of the two industries to benefit from each other’s expertise and best practice in augmenting the processes and approach taken in their respective industries.
“This agreement is strong recognition of the overlapping skill sets between ICT professionals and project managers and the need to maintain a wide perspective common to all professionals involved in projects,” said Dr Bill Young, National President of AIPM.“We look forward to advancing ACS and AIPM for the benefit of members of the two organisations.”
Collaboration between the two industry bodies commences immediately with both associations working towards establishing reciprocal recognition of members at industry events.
