Bayside is celebrating the revitalised Tulip Street Reserve in Sandringham, with the recent construction of the Sandringham Community Soccer Sport Pavilion.

The development of this facility occurred simultaneously with the Master Plan implementation of Tulip Street Reserve, Sandringham including landscaping works. However this proposal relates solely to the project management of the Sandringham Community Soccer Pavilion development.

The project involved the construction of a new pavilion, the Sandringham Soccer Pavilion, which was delivered on time and on budget, costing $497,549.

The procurement of adequate resources including funding from Bayside City Council $237, 549 the State Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s (SRV) Community Facility Funding program contributed $135,000 to the project, along with $125,000 from the Sandringham Soccer Club enabling the delivery of the project.

The project demonstrates an integrated “partnership” approach to the planned development of the sporting and recreational community facilities within Tulip Street Reserve, Sandringham. The design focussed on reducing maintenance costs through vandalism prevention strategies, environmental sustainable design principles and providing disability access.

This project represents the ‘bread and butter’ fabric of Council and the Community working together to achieve their goals. The strong respect for the project management team and project allowed for excellent two way communication which is evident in the testimonials received by Bayside City Council. “Bayside Council’s management of the project design and delivery has been instrumental in the attainment of the Government’s aims for this community facility”. Noel Pullen MLC State Member for Higinbotham

Teamwork, collaboration and communication lead to an effective project management approach which combined the roles of the Bayside City Council Project Manager, Recreation Facility Officer, appointed Architect, Bayside Councillors, club representatives, funding bodies and contractors.

With respect to project management communication does not need to be complex to succeed.
