The City of Bayside are celebrating a revitalised Tulip Street Reserve, Sandringham with the recent construction of the Sandringham Community Soccer and Baseball Sport Pavilion Developments and supporting landscape works thanks to the outstanding efforts of Council’s Project Manager, Mr Peter Franklyn.

The project involved the redesign of the Sandringham Baseball Pavilion and construction of a new Sandringham Soccer Pavilion, which was delivered on time and on budget, costing $1,080,000.

The procurement of adequate resources including funding from Bayside City Council $560,000, the State Government through Sport and Recreation Victoria’s (SRV) Community Facility Funding program contributed $270,000 to the project, along with $125,000 from both the Sandringham Soccer Club and Sandringham Baseball Club enabling the delivery of the projects.

Peter Franklyn lead a team of committed staff and contractors establishing key partnerships with local club representatives to achieve the planned development of the sporting and recreational community facilities within Tulip Street Reserve, Sandringham.The Project Managers brief included reducing maintenance costs through vandalism prevention strategies, environmental sustainable design principles and providing disability access.

This project represents the ‘bread and butter’ fabric of Council and the Community working together to achieve their goals.The strong respect for the project management team and project allowed for excellent two-way communication, which is evident in the testimonials received by Bayside City Council. “Bayside Council’s management of the project design and delivery has been instrumental in the attainment of the Government’s aims for this community facility”. Teamwork, collaboration and communication lead to an effective project management approach which Peter Franklyn was instrumental in developing.Council’s Project Manager worked with numerous people including Bayside’s Recreation Facility Officer, appointed Architect, Bayside Councillors, club representatives, funding bodies and contractors.
