Melbourne Cricket Ground Redevelopment Steinfort Project Management @ mcg Pty. Ltd 2006 PMAA Results: National High Commendation,State Winner,State Category Winner

The Melbourne Cricket Ground, aka “The ‘G” has undergone constant renewal in its 153 year history, but the northern side redevelopment (featuring the rebuilding of the Ponsford Stand, Members Pavilion and Olympic Stand) has been its biggest most complex upgrade to date. Project Managers Steinfort Project Management @ mcg Pty. Ltd. (SPM@mcg Pty Ltd) led by Managing Director and Project Manager, Paul Steinfort has delivered this iconic Melbourne project on time, to quality and within the agreed budget.

The MCG Northern Stand was redeveloped into a world-class facility to match the Great Southern Stand (also project managed by PSA Project Management). The redevelopment has seen approximately 55% of the ground's seating transformed into a state of the art facility with a new members stand and additional top quality public areas.Total stadium capacity is now at 100,000 and facilities exceed international standards.

The achievement of delivering this high-profile project on time, cost and to the agreed quality is made even more remarkable given that during the entire construction period, the facility has continued its operations whilst achieving the required cashflow. This has been made possible by the determined Project Manager, providing innovative solutions to age old questions and pioneering a delivery method that has not been seen on this scale of project, or in this type of environment.

The level of complexity on this project ensured that all solutions, systems and processes were tested during the life cycle of the project. This required them to be robust in their nature with an ability to withstand the most demanding of scrutineering from all different levels of project resources as well as stakeholders.
