Guest Speakers: Mike Avery & Margo O'Farrell. The Institute of TAFE Tasmania offers qualifications in both the Certificate IV of Project Management and the Diploma of Project Management. Since October 2005, about 800 students have enrolled. Whilst working with these students and assessing their evidence portfolios, some patterns have developed in terms of what project managers tend to manage well, and less well. Mike and Margo are both teachers with TAFE, specialising in project management, and both have extensive public sector backgrounds. This session will cover: 1. the history and background to the project management program offered by TAFE 2. some lessons from managing the set up of the program 3. some observations from teaching and assessing project management
