The Tax Office is the first Federal Department in the country to receive the award from Australia’s peak body for project management, the Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM).

Australian Institute of Project Management National President Colin Dobie presented the Project Managed Organisation (PMO) award today to Tax Office Second Commissioner Greg Farr.

Mr Dobie said the award recognised excellence in consistency of approach across all projects addressed by an organisation.

In accepting the award, Mr Farr acknowledged the hard work of Tax Office staff in putting in place best practice project management systems.

“What we have been attempting to do over the past 12 months is to put in place processes which will enable us to make commitments to deliver quality on time,” Mr Farr said.

He said that while today’s award recognised the Tax Office for the skill level it had achieved, he recognised there was still more for the organisation to learn.

The PMO Award is given to organisations which have demonstrated an organisation-wide commitment to the continuous improvement of its project management capabilities.
