AXA Asia Pacific Limited

AXA Asia Pacific Limited is a major wealth management and insurance company globally and in Australia, managing over 900 Billion Euro globally for more than 50million clients in 60 plus countries. In Australia and New Zealand AXA manages a diverse portfolio of over 150 projects across strategy, infrastructure, IT, product development and customer service and allocates approx 20% of its management expense each year to projects execution in the firm belief that project management execution capability is a key element of creaitng and sustaining competitive advantage.

AXA has since 2000 instigated a dedicated program, under the direct sponsorship of the CEO, in the pursuit of project management excellence and in doing so has created a robust project management infrastructure to support the strategic organisational goals. The core of project infrastructure at AXA centres around a Program Management Office (PMO) that oversees project assessment, approvals and prioritisation across the business, funding allocation and project and program tracking of project execution and benefits realisation. The PMO manages a pool of dedicated business project managers and analysts, develops and maintains competency training, program governance and reporting and sponsors an ongoing process and capability improvement program.

Over the last 2 years AXA's project execution success has increased from less than 50% of project completion to over 85% completion within 10% margin of  performance targets.  AXA has an internal goal of all its project managers achieving Registered Project Manager accreditation over the next 12-18 months.

At AXA's recent Annual Project Management Conference held in Melbourne the AIPM was pleased to be able to present AXA with the Project Managed Organisation (PMO) award in recognition of AXA's significant progress and achievements in establishing project management capability on a company wide basis and its ongoing committment to improving project capability.
