National President 1999-2003
 Colin Dobie was elected the President of the AIPM in October 1999 and finished his term in 2003. Colin has over 30 years experience in project management across a wide range of industries. A Defence Force officer until 1986, Colin held prime responsibility for multiple projects and managed major information systems and communications projects involving consultation with all levels of industry. He was responsible for IT interoperability and standardisation in systems development, providing high level briefings on acquisition strategies based on experience in the US, Canada, UK and Europe.
Colin is now the Managing Director of the Corporate Project Management Group (CPM Group Pty Ltd), comprising three companies addressing business and project management consultancy, training and products, located in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. For the past thirteen years he has been a consultant and advisor to senior management in industry and government and was instrumental in introducing project management as a means of business management (Management-by-Projects) within national and trans-national organisations for Transport, Utilities, Construction, Communications, Engineering and Rail Industries, as well as for the Public Sector. He maintains a commitment to the increased recognition of project management as a professional vocation, and in this context is a frequent speaker at national forums and seminars.
Colin's professional qualifications include several post graduate Certificate and Diploma courses in management, studies in Political Science and Statistics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies and Chinese language through the Australian National University. He has been an office bearer and director of the Australian Institute of Project Management since 1995.
