1. Introduction

State Chapter Election nomination results have been announced. Thanks to those that contributed. Click here to see the timetable for the necessary ballots in NSW, QLD and WA chapters. We encourage members in those chapters to take the time to vote; ballot papers will be sent to your postal address. Please ensure this is up to date.

The publication of the June/July The Project Manager was very successful. We received a lot of feedback, which is great. To generate more, we've created an easy online form to submit a comment to the Editor. Please send through your comments. For those who are not members but would like to read the magazine, a Magazine Subscription request page is available.

For those that can't wait for the post, the August/September issue of TPM is now available for download.

A great deal of work is happening setting up PMAA events around the country. Congratulations again to those that have submitted entries, and great thanks to our many PMAA event sponsors from around the country. As a reminder of the 2005 event, we have some photos of the winners available.

Things are moving towards ProMAC 2006, our conference to be held in Sydney between 27-29 September. The Conference Invitation is now available to be downloaded (4mb PDF). It's shaping up to be a great conference. The Technical and Scientific and Program committee has a great task to complete, with 277 papers received and only 120 presentations available. I recommend you attend.

Congratulations go to Ergon Energy, who has just upgraded to a Major Corporate membership. I'd like to welcome our new corporate members: AllStar Solutions, Australian Technical Staff Officer's Course (ATSOC),and Department of Defence: Corporate Services & Infrastructure, North Queensland.

Taking a quick look at our News section, ACT CIT has started a new PM Course, and AIPM is undertaking a Constitutional review. For those that have some news of note, you're now able to submit it for inclusion in our News section

As usual, I'd recommend you track down a PM activity through Events Calendar, examine our Employment Vacancies, Looking for Work and keep up to date with people in Industry Moves. For those interested in a snapshot of the AIPM, I'd recommend a quick look at our Membership Statistics Page.

In terms of developing a new web based service, some discussions have occured about the utility of an AIPM Members Register. This would be functionally similar to our RegPM holder and Assessor listings. My research has not been able to identify another Australian individual membership organisation that displays a general Membership register. This appears to be in keeping with requirements of the Privacy Act. These would need to be clarified if development was to proceed. If any members have any thoughts or experience on this please email or call me on (02) 8288 8751. Your feedback would be appreciated.

I wish you all the best leading up to your Chapter PMAA event and the ProMAC conference.

If I can be of help please call on (02) 8288 8751 or email irc@aipm.com.au.

2. An Invitation to Participate in Project Management surveys

AIPM's Surveys section has been restructured. We've opened up our current non-aipm surveys page to the public, to increase potential participation in research. Our survey results page is still Members only. Data like our 2005 Salary Survey is included here.

4. Information Resource Centre and Website Updates

There have been several subtle improvements in the website this month:

1. Much of the "Open in a new Window" behaviour has been removed. This is a timeconsuming, but has made the website much less frustrating to use.

2. On page navigation elements have been added. Now Major Resource pages like PM Courses, New, Links and Employment allow navigation between pages without using browser buttons.

3. Addition of many User Submission forms, including Events, News, Links and Industry Moves.

4. The Employment Vacancy form has been modified to include a "Date of Job activation" feature to allow job submission before recruitment beings.

5. The IRC Homepage has been simplified. Standards request forms have been streamlined to support direct delivery, and new Question & Answer material has been added.

6. AIPM Publications have been separated into their own pages. Now the AIPM Publications pages presents the choice to go to PMSelect, IRCNews, Chapter Newsletters and The Project Manager.

7. The left hand side menu has been to reflect change #6.

8. New Chapter Newsletters for VIC, SA and ACT are available to help you keep up with events out of your State.

9. Our PM Courses resource has been streamlined and information on Endorsement Status has been added. We will be changing this in the coming weeks to include Unendorsed Training Providers, who will be identified as such. This service will become the National Directory of Project Management Training.

10. For those that are unable to use online transations, revised HardCopy Application forms are now available. Of course, we still prefer that you use our Secure Gateway.

11. Our Membership Benefits page has been revised. Take a quick look to remind yourself of the many reasons you joined AIPM.

12. Our PM Journals Page has been streamlined. For those conducting research you are able to request articles from the journals identified.

13. The IRC's Conference Proceedings Page has been streamlined, with new on page navigation elements and reduction in screen clutter. These documents are available for direct request.

14. Added to the Seminar Presentations page a compelling Seminar Presentation by Stephen Hayes, MBE of the DMO.

15. A new event category called "Of PM Interest" has been created. It will feature events of interest to AIPM Members that are run by external organisations. In all situations we will attempt to negotiate preferred Member conditions for attendance.

Do you know your AIPM Website Login and Password?

  1. If you have mislaid, forgotten, or don't know your password, please submit your details at the Forgot Password Page.
  2. Our system will email your login details to your most recent email address.
  3. If you don't receive an email within 10 minutes, Update Your Contact Details, or call me on 02 8288 8751.

5. Membership Updates

Some points about our recent changes to our membership system, as set out in June/July's The Project Manager:

  • Revised eligibility criteria will only impact new applicants for membership.
  • When assessing membership applications the AIPM will recognise the efforts that any individual does to develop their PM skills, including PMI and IPMA certification.
  • Transitional arrangements mean all members retain current recognition.
  • Our CPD program is being rolled out, and will provide the mechanism for maintaining your membership level.

Further information can be found at our Membership Page.
