1. Introduction

Welcome to the June 2006 IRC News.

I hope your PMAA submission went well. Good luck for the State and National Awards Dinners. There's been a lot happening in the office over the last 5 weeks. We're ramping up to launch our revised magazine, The Project Manager. You'll find that item 7 in this month's PM Select is an extracted article, included as a preview of the revised and refreshed style of the magazine.

Membership renewal time is approaching. Invoices will be arriving by mail within the next two weeks. Invoices paid before 30 June may be refundable in your next return. Our membership structure has been reworked and will be implemented from 1 July; click to see our Membership Homepage and Membership Benefits to examine the changes.

I'd like to welcome RLM Systems as a new corporate member. I'd recommend the IRC as your first website visit. I'd also like to welcome Bluevisions and Chifley Business School to our PM Endorsed Courses listing. Last month the website attracted 781,000 hits, with our top three pages being Courses, Membership and Employment. 28 vacancies were submitted last month, a majority directly from employers, with strong contributions from our Endorsed Recruitment Agencies.

To look to the future, keep your eyes open for ProMAC 2006, to be held in Sydney between 27-29 September.

2. An Invitation to Participate in Project Management surveys

Listed at AIPM Surveys, you are invited to participate.

Investigation into the effectiveness of external project managers who manage change management projects.

Alistair Williams is a student at RMIT carrying our research as part of a Master of Project Management. He would like to interview Project Managers in Melbourne who are responsible for change management projects. 3. PM SELECT Research Update: Issue 5, June2006 - Click here to go to the June issue.

The March PM Select contains seven articles. Articles of merit are selected from across the literature. This service focuses on useful, substantive, informative content.

Subjects this month cover: Roles and Responsibilities of Middle Managers in Program and Portfolio Management; Comparative analysis of cost estimates of major public investment projects; Causes of delay in large construction projects; Causes of delay in large construction projects; The Speed of Change; Branching out; Bridging the Generation Gap.

You'll also notice the PM Select request form now auto populates with your information. Unnecessary fields have also been removed. This will improve usability and convenience, while still maintaining our compliance with the Copyright Act. These changes were made in response to feedback by Ian Ogden and Jamie Masterson. Thank you. Please keep sending suggestions and improvements.

4. Information Resource Centre and Website Updates

New Pages:

• Industry Moves section - a forum to display career changes by AIPM members. Submissions to this forum will also be considered for inclusion in The Project Manager.
• AIPM's Professional Indemnity Insurance service has launched. Read the news release, the service overview, and after this submit a question or request for quotation to insurance@aipm.com.au.
• Request forms have been simplified and improved. Changes include auto population of your membership details and removal of now unnecessary fields. This will make the PMSelect, the Document Request, the Standards Australia and Research Request forms much easier to use. 
• Check out our new chapter newsletters.
• Support Project Management research - take some time to participate in our newly listed surveys.
• New Seminar Presentation material - Managing Projects in an Unstructured Environment and Relationship Development in Project Alliances.

IRC Document Supply allows you to request copies of ANY of the articles contained in any IRC bibliography. You need to provide a citation on the request form, and fill out a Copyright Declaration.

The articles will then be emailed to you. Response times vary from 1 to 7 days, depending on the source of the document.  Please include deadline details.

IRC Literature Search allows members to request custom research. When submitting a request please include deadline details. I will contact you to clarify your request.

5. Membership Updates

Jo-Anne Locke, AIPM Membership Manager, would like to remind all members of our online membership services.

The online renewal link will be useful, as you will soon receive your renewal notice in the mail.

If you are eligible to UPGRADE your membership eg from Associate to Member, you do NOT need to apply again.

Please use the new Membership Upgrade Form, also linked above. The upgrade fee is $44. You will still need to renew your membership separately. For any queries about invoices, receipts etc please contact Susmita Khisti at skhisti@aipm.com.au
