John is the Principal of AxSys Pty Ltd, a Canberra based consultancy company established in April 2001 to provide specialist management expertise. He has considerable experience as a practitioner, trainer and assessor in contracting, procurement, project management and integrated logistics support to industry and all levels of Government.

Prior to this, he spent 32 years in the Royal Australian Navy in a number of appointments including command, liaison and project management in Australia and the USA.  His last twelve years have been in the project acquisition and capability development area within the Defence Materiel Organisation, and its predecessors, and Capability Division. In various capacities, he has performed a wide range of tasks including: project management, requirements analysis, liaison, general management, contract development and management, leadership and command.  He remains an active community member and has been involved in small business over many years.

He is an experienced adult learning facilitator with over 12 years of training experience. The last four years have seen assignments in professional development skills, procurement and project management training and assessment to Advanced Diploma level for Federal, State, Territory and Local Government Departments, agencies and industry.

John’s academic qualifications include: Master of Business Administration, Master of Engineering Science (Civil), Master of Defence Studies, Advanced Diploma of Project Management, Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems, Graduate Certificate in Capital Project Management and numerous certificates in business and management related subjects and building trades.
