Applications should also note that RegPM and Membership require separate applications. All potential members must read and be willing to abide by the AIPM Constitution and Code of Ethics. AIPM also has two membership categories not open to application.

A note for applicants who join at Associate level and are in the process of completing a RegPM Certification: Your membership will automatically upgraded to Member level upon award of the certification.

AIPM membership categories evolve with your career in project management.

A Life Fellow is a person who has rendered exceptional and meritorious service to the project management profession. It is not possible to apply directly for Life Fellowship. Life Fellowship can only be granted by a majority of members of the AIPM at a general meeting, upon nomination by the AIPM National Council. It is not possible to apply for Life Fellow status. The National Council is the sole arbitrator of which individuals will be recognised as having the status of Life Fellow (LFAIPM).

At present, the AIPM has four Life Fellows:

Fellow

A Fellow of AIPM (FAIPM) is a person who has rendered exceptional service to the project management profession. Fellowship will only be granted through by a majority of members through their representation on the National Council. It is not possible to apply for Fellow status. The National Council will consider and seek submissions for Fellow from the Membership and is the sole arbitrator of which individuals will be recognised as having the status of Fellow (FAIPM).

Member

A full Member of AIPM (MAIPM) has demonstrated skills, knowledge and competency to perform in the role of Project Manager, Programme Manager or Programme Director. They fully understand and are competent in all components of a project’s life cycle.

To be recognised as a Member of AIPM (MAIPM) status, the applicant needs to demonstrate:

• A minimum standard of education, that is, a qualification issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) at Certificate IV or above

AND

• At least five years relevant experience in project management environments. Although this experience may not necessarily be as a Project Manager, the applicant needs to provide evidence of their exposure to Project Management principles and disciplines.

OR

• A RegPM Certification at any level (RegPM levels 4 through 6) awarded within the last three years. RegPM has the following levels representing degrees of competency

RegPM – Qualified Project Practitioner (QPP)
RegPM – Registered Project Manager (RPM)
RegPM – Master Project Director (MPD)

Associate

An Associate Member of AIPM (AAIPM) is a person who has attained formal qualifications in Project Management, has received recognised Certification in Project Management or can demonstrate significant experience in Project Management.

To be recognised as and Associate of AIPM (AAIPM) status, an applicant must have:

A minimum standard of education, that is, a qualification issued by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) at Certificate IV or above

OR

A certificate issued by Associations recognised by AIPM. These include:

• IPMA Certification (Level C or Higher)
• PMA Certification (Level C or higher, India)
• PMI Certification (PMP or higher)
• Prince 2 Practitioner Certification
• CompTIA Project+
• CPM from the International Association of Project and Programme Managers (IAPPM)
• CPM from the Association for Project Management (UK)
• Master Project Manager from AAPM
• PME from ICEC (France)
• CDP from APITEP (France)
• Zertifizierung from GPM (Level C or higher, Germany)

OR

At least two years relevant experience in project management environments. Although this experience may not necessarily be as a Project Manager, the applicant needs to provide evidence of their exposure to Project Management principles and disciplines.

Affiliate

An Affiliate of AIPM is a person who has an interest in Project Management. Formal qualifications or certification in project management are not required, and neither is significant experience in project management. The purpose of being an Affiliate of AIPM is to offer the Project Management career entrants access to AIPM’s resources to further develop understanding and their careers.

Affiliates enjoy the same benefits as other categories of membership with the following exceptions:

• No eligibility to vote at annual elections, Annual General Meetings or at Extraordinary General Meetings
• No access to the RegPM certification program
• There are no AIPM post-nominals for Affiliates of AIPM

Student Member of AIPM

AIPM provides a wealth of resources for students to successfully undertake studies to become a proficient and competent Project Manager. AIPM offers membership benefits at a subsidised Student membership rate to encourage individuals to pursue Project Management studies that once qualified individuals will be eligible for Associate of AIPM (AAIPM) Membership.

A student member is either a Full-Time Student of any faculty or institution, or a Part-Time Student undertaking Project Management courses with an AIPM Endorsed Course Provider.

Full-Time Student

Membership is free to Full time students for a maximum of two years. Students must provide evidence of their full time status when applying for membership. On completion or receipt of qualification student members will be eligible for Associate membership of the AIPM (AAIPM) membership and will need to complete an Associate membership application form

Full time students must provide evidence of their full time status when applying for membership, and must do again upon annual renewal.

Part-Time Students

To be eligible for part time student membership, students must be enrolled in an AIPM endorsed course, evidence of enrolment from the endorsed course provider will need to be provided at time of application. Upon completion or receipt of qualification, part time student members will be eligible for recognition as an Associate of the AIPM (AAIPM) and will need to complete an upgrade membership application.
