"Certification" is the term used by professional institutes to recognise individuals who have attained a certain professional standard. Those who have achieved this standard, in accordance with established criteria, are eligible to receive a 'certificate', hence the term. It should be noted that educational qualifications are a separate form of recognition of ability. A qualification does not guarantee a certification.

The competency standards against which the award is granted are based on extensive research into national and international best practice in project management at the levels of work found in most private and public sector workplaces. This research showed that these levels equate to levels 4, 5 and 6 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), which are approximately Certificate IV, Diploma, and Advanced Diploma levels.

This detailed Guide to RegPM Levels will help you to determine which level is best suited to you.
Once enrolled in the program, your RegPM Assessor will review this with you to ensure that you are working towards an appropriate certification level.

Please Note: The National Competency Standards for Project Management (NCSPM) were finalised in 2004 and are no longer available from AIPM - please visit the NCSPM Competency Standards page for information on how to purchase the final version of these standards, which have been incorporated as Vol 4B into BSB01 - Business Services.
