AIPM announces new Fellows

Three past AIPM National Presidents were amongst those Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) members who were today acknowledged by the Institute in an announcement of new Fellows and a new Life Fellow of the Institute.

The announcement was made during the 2016 AIPM Annual General Meeting which was held during the 2016 AIPM Inaugural Regional Conference in conjunction with IPMA at the Hilton Sydney.

Dr Bill Young LFAIPM CPPD (AIPM National President 2007-2011) was acknowledged with the highest honour for a member of the AIPM, when he was announced as the newest Life Fellow of the Institute. Dr Young is the current President of the Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (of which the AIPM is the sitting Secretariat), and he becomes the tenth member to bestowed with the honour of Life Fellowship. As well as serving as President, Dr Young was President of the AIPM's Victorian Chapter from 2004 to amongst other AIPM posts.

Dr Young spoke about his feelings on the nomination when he said “I feel honoured, and grateful to the AIPM and my peers for according me such recognition. Within the AIPM there are so many individuals stretching themselves through commitment and energy to build a strong organisation that reflects our profession. It is a privilege to be part of that body of people that are effectively shaping our profession.“

The honour of Life Fellowship is bestowed up an existing Fellow of the AIPM who is considered to rendered exceptional and conspicuous service to the Institute and the project management profession or materially advanced the profession of project management.

Former AIPM National Presidents David Hudson FAIPM (National President 2011-2013) and Dr Steve Milner FAIPM CPPD (2013-2015) were amongst those awarded the honour of AIPM Fellow at the AGM. Other Fellow appointments included:

  • Sylvia Boyle FAIPM CPPD
  • Chris Carman FAIPM
  • Mike King FAIPM CPPD
  • Bridget Nichols FAIPM
  • Gary Yorke FAIPM

The AIPM would like to thank all of our new Fellows and Life Fellow for their significant and outstanding contribution to the Institute. It is only with the contributions of volunteers such as these that the Institute is able to continue our mission to advance the profession of project management for our members.

The membership grades of life fellow, fellow and honorary fellow recognise that a member of the AIPM community has rendered exceptional service to the institute and is prominent in the profession of project management.
