The Woolooware Bay Shared Pathway is significant as it forms part of a critical active
transport network connecting Cronulla to Greater Sydney.
Stage 6 was subject to numerous complexities relating to heritage, sensitive and protected
fauna and flora, land contamination, remediation and reclamation, a diverse group of land
owners and complex land tenure, working in a marine environment subject to tidal action,
acid sulphate soils and latent conditions.
At $6.2 Million, Stage 6 incorporated engineering solutions responding to environmental
sensitivities through design, material selection and construction methodologies as demonstrated in the bird hide, boardwalk, decking, seawalls, landscaping and sand island.
