Project Manager
Vaidehi Hardikar

Vaidehi came to the Tasmanian Health Service at a critical time – although the ED Trakcare project had been funded in 2009, it was effectively stalled. Vaidehi came to us with years of project management experience, including on complex database design and implementation. Better yet, as a former software product manager, she understood the strong customer focus that is essential in a multidisciplinary, quality-critical environment. Vaidehi pulled together a team of disparate skill levels and worked tirelessly to bring out the best in her people, while working within complex public-sector procurement processes. Her knowledge of Project Management methodology and frameworks ensured successful execution of the project.  Vaidehi managed the go-live of the TrakED system in a stressful environment well. When the first launch faltered, she quickly won the trust of physicians and nursing staff by crafting interim fixes and finally, a lasting solution. The success of the first launch enabled rollout across Tasmania. As the THS serves over half a million people over four major hospital sites, the integrated electronic ED health record and operations platform has been an essential element of better patient care.

Trakcare was one of the largest clinical systems to be deployed in Tasmania. I managed the project through the full lifecycle; securing senior management sponsorship, funding and then building a performing team to implement the system in a high-stress, 24/7 environment. Outcomes Delivery of a state-wide Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to Emergency Departments in Tasmania, with nursing staff utilising an EMR for the first time. Performance This was an important project which was suspended, and I feel proud to have applied my project management knowledge to revitalise and restart the project to bring it to a successful conclusion.
