Setting Up Health Projects for Success

Health sector projects are generally considered to be some of the most complex and challenging projects to undertake, this is due to the nature of stakeholders, technology, social impact & political criticality . Statistically projects fail to meet their objectives, adding to this the complexities of the Health Sector the probability of failure is even higher.

To help us in delivering successful Health projects, we need to learn from past project successes and failures and ensure that projects are set up for success from the onset.

This first in a series of quarterly Health Sector CoP events will focus on Digital, Construction and Service Design projects. It is designed to get practicing industry professionals around the table to discuss and learn from each other ways in which we can set projects up for success.

Presenters:

Michael Littlejohn Michael is a passionate and successful Project Management professional with over 20 years’ experience across a variety of industries. He holds a Masters Degree in Project Management, Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt and LEAN Six Sigma Trainer certifications.

Michael has enjoyed a diverse Project Management career in the areas of construction, property development, engineering and continuous improvement. He has extensive experience in business development for many sectors including healthcare, residential, industrial, commercial and engineering.
Paul Campbell Paul is an Internationally experienced Project Director successfully managing diverse projects in security, manufacturing, WAN management, construction and health care. Considered a "fire fighter" - completed working through a $295 million rebuilding program for The Salvation Army in Eastern Australia then moved onto setting the foundation agreements for the lead-in services infrastructure for a 2,000 home development in SW Sydney.

Began in Western Sydney Medicare Local (now Western Sydney PHN) in 2011 as Project Director of the PCEHR Wave 2 site and continued in several eHealth Lead roles there. Then seconded to the Local Health District as the eHealth/IT lead for the Western Sydney Integrated Care Program. I did what I needed by the end of June 2016 and after a short stint with a digital shared care planning vendor I am now the Manager of Digital Health in the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network, having developed and operationalsed a 3 year Strategic Digital Health Plan.

 
Hediyeh Vahdat Hediyeh is the Managing Director of Linéaire Projects, a boutique specialist Health Consultancy and Project Management company. She has successfully worked at a strategic level across the health care sector, in a diverse career spanning over 18 years. Hediyeh has held senior manager and executive positions at Department, Facility, District and State level of NSW Health. She has broad and extensive experience at a strategic and operational level, with extensive experience in health services planning, development and delivery, facility planning, as well as clinical, education, research and executive/ health management expertise.
 
She maintains her clinical currency by practicing as a senior Clinical Pharmacist and Quality Use of Medicines Pharmacist at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH). This ensures her current and detailed knowledge and understanding of the health sector. Hediyeh is also a casual academic at University of Sydney and Tasmania.
 
 
Andre Demichelis Andre is a biomedical engineer specialised in strategic management (MBA at AGSM) and 15 years’ experience in the health technology sector, working for both public and private organisations. During his career in health, he has worked closely with clients’ team, in a collaborative fashion, helping them implement new technologies, and bringing hands-on functional expertise in the implementation of digital health solutions: Patient Administrations Systems (PAS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS/PACS).

More recently, in his role of professional services Director, Andre has been responsible for supervising large hospital information systems implementations, designing Program Management Offices (PMO), governance structures and supporting monitoring/reporting processes; coaching project managers/consultants and help them develop project/program delivery capabilities.
