2018 Commonwealth Game - Get Set for Gold

QLD
Jan 31
How PM principles will deliver the largest event in Australia this decade.

From 4-15 April 2018, the City of Gold Coast will host the Commonwealth Games, bringing together over 6500 Athletes from 71 Countries to compete across 18 different sports. The Games will use 21 venues, host 15,000 volunteers and over 3000 media to stream to 1.5bn people around the world. This presentation will take you behind the scenes of a sporting event of a global scale revealing the complexity of organising a major sporting event. It will help set context of the broad set of stakeholders involved and the years of planning and organisation that go into preparing the City for not only the hosting of the Games but the intended legacy that lives for generations beyond the event itself. Finally it will talk to the application of tradition Program and Project Management disciplines and how these have been adapted and applied to an event where the deadline is immovable and how some of these lessons can be applied to more traditional program and project environments.
