PROJECT MANAGEMENT SELF-ASSESSMENT TOOL

The Australian Institute of Project Management has developed a competence self-assessment, PROMA3, based on the latest International Project Management Association (IPMA) competence standards for project managers. You can undertake the assessment as a Project, Program or Portfolio Manager.

Currently, AIPM’s self-assessment tool is only available to organisational partners and members.

THE AUSTRALIAN INSTITUTE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT'S TOOL COVERS PROJECT, PROGRAM AND PORTFOLIO DOMAINS

Results of the assessment can be aggregated and benchmarked on an individual, team and organisational level. Below are three areas that are covered with our self-assessment tool:

People: The personal and interpersonal competencies required to succeed in projects, programs and portfolios.

Practice:
The specific methods, tools and techniques for managing projects, programs and portfolios.

Perspective:
The contextual competencies that must be navigated within and across the broader environment of projects, programs and portfolios.

WHY COMPETENCE SELF-ASSESSMENT?

Value to organisation

Effective self-assessment can contribute to improving the performance of project management within your organisation, provide talent management of your existing team members and insights into the candidate recruitment process. The information the manager receives through the self-assessment peer review process provides insights into the strengths and development needs of the individual, the team, the department or the organisation as a whole.

Professional development program

A tailored professional development program is produced for the individual, the team, the department and the organisation based on the results of the assessments. The tool is also linked with the AIPM course catalogue where you can search courses to help you upskill in the areas identified for improvement and aligned with your organisations strategy and supported by your management.

Self-reflection

The assessment provides insight into your understanding and application of project management competence: 29 core elements of competence across People, Practice and Perspective competencies. The assessment results also provide a benchmark against industry and organisation.

Review alongside your manager or colleague

The results of the assessment will provide a unique opportunity for you to discuss your professional development needs with your manager. You can play an active role in your performance review process and help your manager to see the full picture through your eyes.
